Our Mission

Glen Park Community Centre Inc. works to create a strong, connected community - free from poverty, isolation and injustice, where every person has access to food, housing, social and economic participation, lifelong learning and support.

Our Purpose

Glen Park Community Centre Inc. is established to be a charity whose purpose is to be a Public Benevolent Institution, providing material aid, relief and access to lifelong learning for local people and families who are experiencing poverty, extreme hardship and distress, and advancing the social and public welfare of the same community by:

Providing direct relief to people experiencing extreme hardships such as homelessness and food insecurity so that vulnerable community members have access to food and material aid when they need it most;

Providing a safe space to connect community members experiencing poverty, extreme hardship and distress with a range of appropriate support services, networks, programs and opportunities;

Empowering vulnerable community members to meet their own needs in order to address and prevent poverty, sickness and extreme hardship;

Responding to the social welfare needs of the community, and providing programs that address the immediate symptoms of issues such as social isolation, disengagement, unemployment and disadvantage;

Providing accessible learning and employment pathways for people who are experiencing extreme hardship, are socially isolated, disadvantaged or disengaged;

Educating the wider community and stakeholders to better understand and appropriately respond to identified and emerging social welfare needs;

Connecting community members experiencing poverty, extreme hardship and distress with a range of appropriate support services, networks, programs and opportunities;

Advocating on behalf of people experiencing poverty, extreme hardship and distress, and providing a voice for vulnerable Victorians;
09
Doing all other things incidental to achieving and carrying out the purposes.
