Individuals who volunteer with Glen Park participate in pre-accredited training which includes essential skills that can be easily transferred into everyday life and work tasks, such as goal setting, time management, customer service, OH&S and so much more. Check out Jared's story below!

Jared commenced volunteering in 2019 and participated in Glen Park’s pre-accredited training. As part of Jared’s pre-accredited training, he set himself goals and planned a pathway of how to achieve the goals he outlined. One of the main topics Jared wanted to address was building his confidence. Jared worked closely with Glen Park’s Social Enterprise Coordinator, who set small achievable goals for Jared to achieve each day that he spent volunteering. Jared was unsure about serving customers in the cafe, but his confidence slowly started to grow with each customer he served. Jared’s boost of confidence contributed greatly to achieving one of his major goals, which was travelling overseas for a holiday. Jared was able to achieve his major goal within 10 months of volunteering. Glen Park’s volunteer program was suspended for a great deal of 2020 & 2021, however despite this, Jared still felt confident and started attending job interviews. Jared successfully gained employment in November 2021 in the hospitality industry. Glen Park are very proud of Jared and all that he achieved throughout his time volunteering.
